You right about customs.  However, here is two stories about the postal service. 

Many years ago, when I was still running Trix Express, I ordered some wheels from someone in Germany who was making them especially for that system.  Suddenly, I got an email saying:

"My gosh, I just mailed the wheels, but forgot to put postage on it.  Let me know how much they charged you in fees, and I cover it." 

The wheels arrived three (!) days later, no fees or penalties.  Fastest shipment I ever received.  So, do not put a stamp on it, and it goes faster. 

On the other hand, I once ordered a magazine on German electrics from someone in California, it took the postal service 2 months to deliver it to Alabama.  The mailman and I were flabbergasted.
