HO European train layout in Boulder

Hello all,
I am new to this site, but have been building a 10 x 20 layout for about 4 years now and it is almost done. I have 250` of track operating on three systems enabling me to run 3 trains simultaneously and park 12. One system runs over mountains over the top of the other two systems. I will try to figure out how to post pics, though I am completely computer illiterate.

  • If you upload to Imgur, you can copy the Direct Link in the right margin of the photo and use the image tag icon above the message field to insert the photo. Not an ideal way to do it, but it's the only way this crazy board software works.

On the other hand, for a You Tube video, you can just post the URL in the field and it loads right up. Go figure.

I've never seen this board software before.

  • Welcome Steve, that is quite a layout with 250' of track!
I've used the drag and drop feature for posting pictures without any problems. I'll add instructions below, and please excuse my being probably too explicit, but you mention that you are not a computer geek :). I am also assuming that you are using a PC and not a MAC although the procedure may be similar.

    1. Scroll to the bottom of your article(s) to "Leave a Comment". Write any text if desired.
    2. Click on the picture icon at the right end of the Comment icons, then click "Choose Files". You should now get a file folder window appearing.
    3. Place this window up on the screen so you can still see the "Leave a Comment" window on the bottom.
    4. Search for your picture folder in the file folder window if it is not already showing.
    5. Find the .jpg file (or thumbnail) of the picture you want to post, then click on it and hold the left mouse button.
    6. Drag the file or thumbnail into the "Leave a Comment" window below your written text where it will say "+ Copy". Then release the mouse button.
    7. You will now see a bunch of text gobbledegook which is actually a URL of your picture!
    8. Now click on "Preview" at the bottom, and your picture should appear. You cannot change its size. You also cannot add or correct text while in the "Preview" window.
    9. Click on "Edit" which brings you back to the "Leave a Comment" window where you can add more text or more pictures.
    10. If you want to delete a picture you have copied, highlight the entire picture URL (including the ![] symbols before the (https:...) and then delete it. You can also move the picture to a different position in your text by highlighting the entire URL and then 'cut and paste' it in the new location.
    11. When done with writing and copying pictures , click on "Preview" again to check that everything appears as you want it.
    12. When satisfied, click on "Post Comment".

I hope this helps. Ask if you have any questions. Can't wait to see pictures of your layout!
    Cheers
    Uli
